Earlier in 2025, Tyrone began an internship with the facilities and food management company, Sodexo.  Based at the University of Greenwich campus in Medway, Tyrone gained meaningful and relevant experience in a range of tasks, including general maintenance duties, moving furniture and setting up for events.

Not only was Tyrone able to master a range of new skills and grow in confidence whilst working at Sodexo, but his hard work soon paid off and he was offered a 3-month paid contract with the company!

'All the staff here are really nice, I get along with everyone, which is a good thing.  I enjoy the jobs that I do here, basic maintenance and keeping the site clean.  I'm happy I have a three-month contract.' - Tyrone

Our internships offer a valuable opportunity to the employer as much as the student, as Danny Cook, Deputy Facilities Manager at Sodexo, explains:

“In his dual role as Grounds & Compliance Officer and Handyman, Tyrone brings a rare blend of precision, patience, and pride to everything he does…His journey is a powerful example of how inclusive employment practices can unlock potential and create workplaces where everyone can succeed.

Beyond his technical skills, Tyrone’s presence underscores the importance of neurodiversity in the workplace. His contributions remind the team that diverse perspectives and approaches enrich collective outcomes. bemix’s commitment to empowering individuals like Tyrone not only highlights his capabilities but also sets a powerful example for inclusive employment practices."

Congratulations on your paid role, Tyrone!
