Support us Eco Shed shop From One Cow to a Whole Farm: David's Creative Project Inspires the bemix Eco Shed It all started with David's love of cows. At the Eco Shed, he fired up the bandsaw and began crafting his favourite animal. But creativity is contagious, and soon the entire group was buzzing with excitement. "It was great fun working with everyone, deciding what animals people wanted to make and helping with the drawing of them." recalls Cheryl, Eco Shed Lead. Before long, the workshop was alive with the sounds of sawing, painting, and laughter as cows, pigs, ducks, chickens, and sheep began to take shape. And because we all love a bit of fun and are all a bit artistic, these weren't your ordinary farm animals. "I enjoyed painting the animals different colours," shares one team member with pride. Rainbow-hued chickens, purple pigs, and technicoloured ducks emerged from the workshop – each one a unique masterpiece. David's passion for highland cows took centre stage. After cutting out the shapes on the bandsaw, he and Robert set to work painting. Then came the special touches: carved horns carefully glued on, and lengths of wool meticulously attached to create that signature shaggy highland coat. "Doing the knitting wool on the highland cow was great fun. Great to practice my band sawing," David beams. But David didn't stop there. He created something truly special – a highland person complete with a tartan kilt. Getting those crisp, straight lines required patience and plenty of masking tape, but the result? Absolutely amazing. David even gave his creation a name: Sharon Osborn! The joy of the project wasn't just in the making. "Everyone laughed at the huge chicken, luckily, they are not as big as cows in real life," Cheryl laughs, remembering the group's reaction to one particularly oversized poultry creation. A Project That Keeps on Giving The success of David's farm animals has been extraordinary. One of his highland cows was sold as soon as it was finished! The proceeds are already going back into the Eco Shed to buy more sandpaper and bandsaw blades so we can create even more wonderful projects. We're excited to announce that our colourful menagerie will be available in the Eco Shed shop. We've never done a project quite like this before, and it's been an absolute joy from start to finish. Who knew one cow could inspire an entire farm?
