Jobs and News News bemix's BrightPath Celebrate Training Over 10,000 Health and Social Care Staff in Just 13 Months! A remarkable milestone powered by partnership, purpose and determination Kent & Medway's – bemix's BrightPath partnership is proud to celebrate an extraordinary achievement: training more than 10,000 NHS and Adult Social Care staff in The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism™ in just 13 months. What makes this milestone even more remarkable is that BrightPath was a brand-new training partnership that only began delivering in April 2025. Built from the ground up by bemix in partnership with Aucademy CIC and Kent Autistic Trust, the team has rapidly grown into a trusted and impactful force for change across Kent and Medway. Delivering over 10,000 full-day, in-person and online training places in such a short timeframe is an exceptional accomplishment, one that reflects not only the scale of the need, but the dedication, resilience and shared commitment of every member of the bemix Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training team. An achievement built on teamwork Behind every training session is a team of passionate and committed people: trainers, co-trainers, facilitators, coordinators and support staff, all working together to make each learning experience meaningful and impactful. This milestone has not been achieved without challenges. Building a new programme at pace, coordinating delivery across multiple locations, responding to increasing demand, and maintaining the highest standards of co-produced, person-centred learning has required flexibility, determination and an unwavering focus on quality. Through changing pressures and sometimes difficult circumstances, the BrightPath team has continued to show extraordinary professionalism, care and belief in the importance of this work. Everyone at bemix is incredibly proud of what has been achieved. Creating lasting change in health and social care As the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board’s commissioned provider, bemix's BrightPath partnership delivers the Government’s standardised and recommended training designed to improve how Health and Social Care professionals support Autistic people and people with a learning disability. The Tier 2 training is a full-day, face-to-face learning experience, and the Tier 1 training is a one-hour online training. Each are co-delivered by trainers with lived experience, ensuring that every session is rooted in real voices, real stories and practical understanding. This training is not just about meeting statutory requirements, it is about changing attitudes, improving confidence and helping professionals provide safer, more compassionate and more inclusive care. So what do our delegates think?... "This training was exceptional, and it has helped me reframe the work I do and will make a big difference to my clients and their families. Thank you so much to the co-facilitators with lived experience. They made the training.""Most informative and beneficial training I've ever been on.""I learnt so much that I can apply to my work as a nurse.""I think the world would benefit from this training. I was fully engaged throughout and the sessions were really thought-provoking and insightful. I have so much of a better understanding now." "I learnt so much new knowledge and practical skills that I can use in practice and life too! The facilitator and the co-trainers were fantastic, and without their input the training wouldn't have been anywhere near as good. The sharing of real-life experiences and what helps in reality, not a book, was invaluable. I can't recommend it highly enough." Every delegate trained represents another step towards a health and social care system where people are better understood, better supported, and treated with dignity and respect. Proud of what we’ve achieved To exceed 10,000 trained staff in just over a year is a milestone worth celebrating! The team has been committed to expanding access, maintaining excellence and building a workforce equipped with the knowledge, confidence and understanding needed to improve lives across Kent and Medway. Natasha Cocooran, Head of bemix Oliver McGowan Training, said: “We are incredibly proud of the whole BrightPath team and what they have achieved together. Reaching over 10,000 trained staff in just 13 months is a remarkable milestone, especially for a new partnership. This has taken commitment, resilience and teamwork in sometimes challenging circumstances, and every person involved should feel proud of the difference they have made. Every training session helps create better understanding, better care and better outcomes for Autistic people and people with learning disabilities. That is what drives us.” Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this incredible achievement.
