Jobs and News News Be Seen Be Heard Explore Local History Through Film The Be Seen Be Heard group recently worked together to create a film exploring the rich local history of the Sittingbourne and Swale area Watch it here The group wanted to make a film that not only shared interesting stories from the local area but also raised awareness about topics that matter to the people involved in the project and the wider community. As with all Be Seen Be Heard projects, the group worked together to choose the topic and plan how the project would develop. Members were involved in every stage of the filmmaking process, building a wide range of creative and practical skills along the way. This included researching local history, scriptwriting, setting up filming environments, learning camera skills and editing the final footage. The project gave members the opportunity to learn more about important places and stories connected to Swale, while also growing in confidence and creativity. JR said:“I enjoyed doing the research on Minster Abbey.”SC said:“I enjoyed researching about Kemsley Light Railway and The Paper Mills.”NS said:“I enjoyed my research and I had a feeling what it was like to worship in the 16th Century and was like coming into a new world.”JG said:“I enjoyed dancing in the video.” Projects like this help people to be creative, work together and share their voices through film. They also support people to build confidence, learn new skills and connect with the history of their local community.
